2017 Christmas Newsletter

With more than words can convey, we wish you every happiness for the New Year.  We wish you the very best for 2018.

Dean and Angeli

Well, this year has been amazing.  As I look through the last 12 months, we probably could have driven around the world.  Our new car had 40,000 miles that we added to it, so we bought a new one.  And I have committed myself not to drive so much.  Part of it was driving to Riverton once a week to tend our sweet Grand daughter and help Sheila through a semester of nursing school, and part of it was working in the temple once a week in St. George, a two hour drive from Panguitch.  That took a lot of our time.  We were released from the calling in September along with all of the new Cedar City Temple workers.  We felt so honored and humbled to be able to be in this historic temple and learning the things you do, experiencing small little miracles each time.

With the release came some freedom, so we decided to go to Hawaii.  This was a fun, exciting trip that has been a dream vacation forever.  We stayed at Turtle Bay and loved the romantic beauty.  It was close to the Hawaii Temple, and Polynesian Cultural Center.  We experienced everything!  A Hawaiian Luau, hula dancing, music, poi balls, the beach, the temple, and Pearl Harbor.

Turtle Bay, notice how rough the ocean was.

In January, I got to fly to Wala Wala, where Kami and Levi had just had their new baby boy, Samuel Levi Wilson.  The snow was terrible, so the flying was the best option.  He got an I spy quilt -- I think the kids liked looking for things on it, and will teach Sam how to do it.  It was fun to be with busy Kami,

In May, Raychel and Paul had two babies.  boy -- Deacon Paul and girl -- Kitlyn Ann. We are getting two at a time.  She had to go on bed rest for 6 weeks before they came, and so, I came to help.  The temple let me take time to do this.  It was fun helping Raychel, and she is also busy.  This was her 5th and 6th.

In June, we took a road trip to Rocky Point Mexico with Crystal and Jared's family.  This is on the curve of the Baha Peninsula. We rented a lovely beach house, and fished, swam, snorkled and learned so much about the ocean.  It was relaxing and so much fun.  Jared caught so much fish with his spear, we had a wonderful fish fry at the end.

In July we had a Dean Sheffer family reunion at the ranch.  We enjoyed the 24th celebrations during the parade in Panguitch and had fun tubing the river, talent show, eating, making Christmas decorations, 4 wheeling, horse riding, and finding out what Sheila's baby would be.  Ha ha.  See the video.  That was so fun.
On August 21 we drove to Wyoming with Cody and Lisa's family to see the Solar Eclipse.  Dean has had it on our calendar for the last 8 years.  It was an amazing experience.  We were just outside of Victor Wyoming in a spot where it was just us.  We saw first hand the darkness, felt the cold, experienced the eerie silence of no birds singing.  We put the sheets out so that we could see the waves, but didn't see them.

In November Skyler Ray Allen was born to Sheila and Jordan Allen,  He is a healthy little boy with all of his parts working.  A prayer answered.

In December we went to the St. George Temple, dinner and the Forgotten Carols with my brothers and sisters.  We also had a lovely dinner with at Richard and Irene's for Linda's birthday.  Also, Dean has a special hidden talent, and we told Santa about it.
Crystal turns 40 Oh my
