It didn't take long for the missionaries to learn of Dad's talents in painting. We just finished using Dad's expertise to paint a sisters apartment in Morong. The young missionaries are in charge of finding their own apartments and they usually live in primitive conditions along with the rest of the population. -- unless they are lucky. Morong is about a 2 1/2 hour drive from here going 30 mph. Up in the "country"they found this cement building (house). It had yucky linoleum that we tore out. We painted the floors blue, upstairs there were 3 bedrooms with lime green walls. Downstairs they now have a makeshift shower, toilet seat to a non flushing toilet (you dump water in to flush it CR), a new kitchen faucet, large kitchen and large front room. When they found this it was bad. cement home - yucky linoleum with dead cockroaches around, a pipe in the bathroom for washing and no toilet seat, now they have a pretty good place to live. The elders and sisters all came to clean, 4 senior couples helped paint. They actually have a really nice home to move in to now. We came home each night pretty tired.
Today we go out that way again to a ward's Relief Society Birthday dinner. Three Seniors.
Three of the 5 sisters who will live here, they found the place.
A job well done deserves a Filipino fanning.
How many seniors and broomstick poles does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
A Filipino broom it does a pretty good job outside.
Elder Sheffer, Elder Jardine, Elder Schlager
Sister Sheffer, Sister Schlager, Sister Jardine
The new kitchen, cr (comfort room) is a bathroom off to the right
